Bedside Preparation

1 Way to Prepare Today: Mount a Flashlight Next To Your…

Editor’s note: Prephappy.com is happy to bring you a new series entitled “1 way to Prepare Today.” We’re quite fond of lists, but they can get a little long (“32 ways to …..” is just too much for us to digest!). So in the spirit of brevity, we’re helping you get prepared in an easy way – just one way to prepare today!

1 Way to Prepare Today: Mount a Flashlight Next To Your Bedside

I recommend that you have at least one flashlight per person in your household. Mount each person’s flashlight next to their bedside. If there’s an emergency in the middle of the night, everyone can find light immediately.

And if something should happen before bedtime, everyone knows where their flashlight is. Label them if you wish to be super OCD about it. 🙂

I just moved in to a little house of my own, so I don’t have a bedside table yet. But I DO have a flashlight mounted and at the ready. The mounting hardware is sold in packs of 2, so we split it up and use just one bracket per flashlight.

Do just this one thing and you’ll be more prepared for any emergency.

Nancy’s favorite flashlight and the mounting hardware you need
The Maglight is my favorite flash light. It’s made in America and is very heavy – and it lights up the area like a beacon. I always feel safer when I have this flashlight near by.
This is the hardware I used with the flashlight in my photo. Perhaps it’s the nerd in me, but going to bed with this flashlight so neatly mounted and at the ready makes me happy happy happy.

    Nancy,

I had kind of a DUH! moment reading your article. I’ve always kept a flashlight at my bedside but hadn’t even thought about placing one by my wife’s side of the bed or our daughters’ beds.

Maybe if I do that it will reduce the number of times mine gets swiped as well.

    Thanks for the tip,

Glad you liked it. If you want to be uber-organized about the whole flashlight thing, you could also label your flashlights as well! 🙂
