Pet Alert Decals – Free and Important

A fire burns in a suburban home while Sara and her husband are at work. An overloaded electrical cord shorted out (here’s a link to the news story). And while the people were fine, their beloved dog and cat, sadly, were overcome. In the event of a fire, such as this, rescuers may not know about the family pets while you are away.

So what can you do to help ensure that your pets are rescued in the event of a disaster when you are not present?

Let emergency rescuers know that you have pets by adding some pet alert decals to your doors. Pet alert decals are stickers you put on your front and back doors to notify rescuers that there are pets inside. You don’t have to compromise your security with this information – just note the number of dogs, cats, and other pets (no names) and a phone number of who to call.

Put one on every door, and if you’re really serious, add one to the gas shutoff area too – you want them to see it.

It could save your pet’s lives in the event of a fire or other emergency.

The ASPCA will give them to you for free when you sign up for their mailing list.  You can also get reflective pet alert decals – they’re inexpensive at Amazon and often ship free.
